Early Learning Center Christmas Programs


The ELC had Christmas programs this week featuring children ages 3-5. This was put on by our music teacher Mrs. V. who teaches music to the children once a week. What a great way to begin Christmas vacation!

Art Show at the Louisville Library


Come to the Louisville Library December 15 - January 15 for an Art Show by our Kindergarten through 8th grade students. This amazing display is next to the Children's section in the atrium area and in the shelves by the check out desk.
The artwork is fantastic - you won't want to miss it!

Festival of Trees


The Student Council sponsored a tree for the Meals on Wheels Festival of Trees event at CU on Saturday, December 11. Three SC members set up the tree which was titled "Merry Music" full of iPod related items. Out of 39 trees, it was one of the most popular. This is the second year that the SC has sponsored a tree for this wonderful event.

5th Graders Study Africa


For part of their Africa study, 5th graders made African masks in Art class. Our Art Show runs from December 15 - January 15 at the Louisville Library. The show will include artwork from grades K-8.

8th Grade Orienteering


The 8th grade class walked to Cottonwood Park this week to do some rock and mineral research and go through an Orienteering course. In groups of 3, students navigated to 4 different stations using a compass and a set of directions.

Book of the Dead


For All Souls Day, our 1st graders make a Book of the Dead. This book has pictures and names of those who have died to be prayed for during the month of November. It is processed in by the 1st grade during the Mass on All Souls Day, and is displayed in the church all month. Names can be added anytime and at each Mass Father prays for all who are in the book.

More Dia de los Muertos


5th and 6th graders made festive skeletons. Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican celebration on November 1st and 2nd. November 1st is usually in honor of the "angelitos" or little angels - the children who have died. November 2nd is celebrated in honor of all who have died.

Egypt Game


Every year the 5th grade class, reads the book The Egypt Game for Language Arts in conjunction with studying Egypt in Social Studies. This year the students made sarcophaguses in Art and visited the King Tut exhibit at the Denver Art Museum. The Egypt unit concludes with a party complete with food and costumes.

Principal's Retreat


Last week on October 6-7, I attended a Principal's Retreat for all the Archdiocese of Denver Catholic School principals. It is always a fun and relaxing time up at St. Malo in Allenspark near Estes Park. Our speaker was Sister Cele from Kansas City and she spoke on how we are Peacemakers. It was very enlightening.

Colorado Art


Mrs. Taylor's 4th graders designed Colorado T-shirts depicting Colorado state motif (state bird, fish, flower, etc.). The 4th grade is studying Colorado history and will be visiting a working gold mine in Idaho Springs towards the end of the month.

Minute To Win It 5/6 Grade Social


The 5th and 6th graders had a Minute To Win It Social today after school. The party included games like stacking golf balls and trying to get an Oreo cookie from your forehead to your mouth without touching it. This party was organized by the 7th and 8th graders - truly fun for all!

Snow Plow Decorating


The Kindergarters along with their 4th Grade Buddies decorated a snow plow for the city of Louisville. The design includes handprints along with our school theme: "Helping Hands Make a Difference". Look for it this winter plowing the snow!

Outback Steakhouse Fundraiser


Yesterday, was our Outback Steakhouse fundraiser. Over 200 tickets were sold for this delicious lunch served with the help of our Middle School students. We raised about $1600! What a great way to raise money!

From the Principal

After one month of the 2010-2011 school year under our belts, we are 181 students strong in the K-8 school. Computer club and spelling bee practices have begun. Our Kindergarteners decorated a city snow plow with hand prints -"Helping Hands Make a Difference". Music is in full swing with choir, band, and tone chime practice. Our theme this year is Make a Difference.
